Teenage tech trainees boost engineering team

Friday 3rd November 2011

Compatibility, the leading IT services supplier to businesses in the South-East, has taken on two technical support trainees to boost its headquarters team.

Compatibility technical support trainees Jess Mogridge and Lewis Shelley.

The two new team members, Jess Mogridge (18) from Uckfield and Lewis Shelley (19) from Eastbourne, increase the staff roster at the Crowborough-based business to 14. Their appointment follows a period of steady growth for the company over the last couple of years.

As part of Compatibility’s engineering team, Jess and Lewis will join the company’s structured training programme involving external technical courses in the leading IT, software and networking products and their support and daily on-the-job development. . Both have existing academic qualifications in IT following an interest developed and nurtured at Uckfield Community Technical College and Sussex Downs College respectively.

“In today’s economic environment, it can be tricky and not without risk to know when to invest in new people, and to be frank, in this case we were only really after one new trainee”, said Kate Williams, Compatibility’s Operations Director. “But both Jess and Lewis shone at interview and when we find good people we would be foolish not to harvest the talent on hand.

They join a team which offers professional IT Services and support to the company’s 300 or so customers spread across the UK, in businesses of all types and sizes, and which for many customers provides a virtual IT department. The company’s activity is based on an independent, consultative approach, and makes the sort of practical expertise normally associated with big corporates available to much smaller organisations, with prices tailored to meet their needs and budgets.

“Both Jess and Lewis are already working successfully to support customers on our telephone help-line and we will develop them with specific technical and on-the-job training going forward so that they can fully interact with and support our customers, and thus support Compatibility’s overall growth targets”.
